Stavanger is a great place for shopping for several reasons. The selection of shops is wide, from exclusive stores with designerbrands to small boutiques and specialist shops. You will find small individual shops or the main chains like Zara and HM. Another reason is the area itself. Cosy small cobble stone pedestrian streets with small hills centered around Sølvberget Library and Culture House. The area is compact. It is not far to walk inside the shopping area due to its location in the center of Stavanger peninsula. At the first intersection head to the right, to pass clothing stores like Vero Moda, Junkyard and Zara. You will also find Session boardshop, Polestar showroom and several opticians. At the next intersection, where you can head up to the Valberg tower, you will find another exclusive clothing store, Høyer. Further down Kirkegata you will find a bookstore and one of the entrances to Fargegate (the Colour Street). Here we enter this street by another route, described below If you head right in front of Høyer, and pass the great Outland (games, cartoons, gadgets and books) you enter Breigata with small boutiques. You only follow Breigata a short stretch before you head left into the new pedestrian area (Bakkegata). This is the start of the famous Fargegata (Colour street) area with all its small cafes and boutiques. Head right from Bakkegata and follow Fargegata all the way to you enter Østervåg. Here you also will find a lot of small boutiques end specialist stores. Østervåg is also a pedestrian area. Follow it all the way to the and where you meet traffic again in Klubbgata. Here you will also find the shopping center Arkaden. We here head right again and climb up the hill in the pedestrian street Nygata before we are back at our starting point at Sølvberget. You can also head back down to Østervåg from Sølvberget by Søregata - another pedestrian street with boutiques. For cruise tourist arriving at the cruise terminal, the shopping area is only a short walk along the harbour.
